Description of key information

An acidic/alkaline reserve test indicated that PBN1 mixture, the analogue substance cannot be automatically considered as potentially corrosive to skin but can be considered as severely irritant to the eye. Thus, Mélange impregné should be classified eye irritant xi, R36 taking into account the classification criteria of Directive 1999/45/EC or eye damage cat. 2 (H319) taking into account the classification criteria of Directive 1272/2008/EC (CLP).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Eye irritation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
adverse effect observed (irritating)

Additional information

An acidic/alkaline reserve test was performed and results indicated that the analogue product cannot be automatically considered as potentially corrosive to the skin while 2/3 criteria fulfilled to consider the substance as severely irritant to the eye.

According to the acidic/alkaline reserve test results and the classification rules of Directive 1272/2008/EC (CLP), a classification eye damage cat. 2 (H319) would be applied or Xi R36, cause eye irritation (classification rules of Directive 1999/45/EC).

Effects on eye irritation: highly irritating

Effect level: empty Endpoint conclusion: Adverse effect observed

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to the acidic/alkaline reserve test results of an analogue substance and the classification rules of Directive 1272/2008/EC (CLP), a classification eye damage cat. 2 (H319) would be applied (or Xi R36, cause eye irritation under the classification rules of Directive 1999/45/EC).
