Additional information

TheReaction mass of aluminium fluoride and aluminium oxide and chromium (III) oxide and nickel dichloride(Einecs #909-803-9)is an on-site isolated intermediate, manufactured and used under Strictly Controlled Conditions within industrial settings. According to Article 17 of the REACH regulation, a registration for an on-site isolated intermediate shall include any available existing information on physicochemical, human health or environmental properties to the extend that the manufacturer is able to submit it without any additional testing: of the intermediate.

No data is available on the substance, therefore the hazard assessment is based on information obtained on a similar substance:Reaction mass of aluminium fluoride and chromium trifluoride and nickel difluoride (Einecs #914-309-1)

More, as the substance is manufactured and used under Strictly Controlled Conditions, there are no occupational and environmental exposure

One key study is available for each of the following endpoints:

Short-term toxicity to fish:

LC50(96h) > 80.7 mg/L (OECD TG 203) (reliability: 1a)

Based on the results of this study, the test item REACTION MASS OF AlF3/CrF3/NiF2 is considered as not dangerous to fish in accordance with the Directive 67/548/EC.

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates:

EC50(48h) = 10.2 mg/L ; NOEC = 6.7 mg/L (OECD TG 202) (reliability 1a)

Based on the results of this study, the test item REACTION MASS OF AlF3/CrF3/NiF2 is considered as harmful toaquatic invertebrates in accordance with the Directive 67/548/EC.

Toxicity to aquatic algae:

EbC50(72h) = 197 µg/L ; NOEC = 22.8 µg/L (OECD TG 201) (reliability 1a)

ErC50(72h) = 313.6 µg/L ; NOEC = 83.3 µg/L (OECD TG 201) (reliability 1a)

Based on the results of this study, the test item REACTION MASS OF AlF3/CrF3/NiF2 is considered as very toxic to aquatic algae in accordance with the Directive 67/548/EC.

All these studies are reliable. So based on these data, REACTION MASS OF AlF3/CrF3/NiF2 classification could be determined by using the lowest obtained LC(EC) 50 value. So the test item REACTION MASS OF AlF3/CrF3/NiF2 should be classified as very toxic to the aquatic organisms in accordance with the Directive 67/548/EC.
