Description of key information
A water solubility of isobutyl-(S)-lactate in water of 56.5 g/L at 20 °C was determined using the flask method.

The key study determined the water solubility of isobutyl-(S)-lactate in a GLP compliant study according to the OECD guideline 105 and EU method A.6 (Regulation EC 440/2008) using the flask method at 20 °C and over a period of 24, 48 and 72 hours. The study indicates an overall solubility in water of 56.5 g/L at 20 °C.
Clary, Feron & van Velthuijsen (1998) was regarded as supporting study and the water solubility of isobutyl-(S)-lactate was stated to be 51 g/L at 20 °C.
Both values can be extrapolated to the target substance isobutyl-(R)-lactate without restrictions, since being the optical antipode.
