Additional information

As reported in SIDS Dossier of MnO2 approved at SIAM 25 (17 -18 October 2007) with reference to unpublished report of National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER), Korea, 2006, Growth inhibition test of manganese dioxide to algae (Report No. EG06043) tested by KRICT, EC50(72 h) growth rate) of manganese dioxide for Selenastrum capricornutum was more than 100 mg/l. After 72 hours of exposure, the cell density in the control increased 58 times the initial inoculums, which meets the OECD TG's validity criteria of at least 16 times increase within 72 hours.

The concentrations of the test substance were analyzed in control and 100 mg/l test solutions at 0hr and 72 hours. The measured concentration of the test substance was 0.05 mg/l.

The test was conducted according to OECD TG201 method.
