Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

A semi-static non-GLP study with Brachydanio rerio by Richterich and Muehlberg (2001), similar to OECD guideline 203, was performed for a sodium metasilicate (anhydrous). The 96 h LC50 was determined to be 210 mg active matter/L. The 96 h LC0 and LC100 were 180 and 250 mg active matter/L, respectively. The pH varied depending on the test substance concentration from 9.1 to 9.8.

In another non-GLP study (UK Dept. Envir. 1991, Wallen et al. 1957) the toxicity of sodium metasilicate to Gambusia affinis was examined. The 96 h LC50 was determined to be 2320 mg/L (pH 8.9 - 10.1).
