- Name of activity / technique:
- Use of the substances in high integrity contained system where little potential exists for exposures, e.g. any sampling via closed loop systems. Our chemistry is added to a circulating medium which can consist of steam, water or hydrocarbon, in preparation of taking equipment out of service for maintenance. The chemistry is normally introduced using a reciprocating drum pump, for example. The chemistry in the circulating medium then works to eliminate contaminants by either physical means (distillation or emulsification) or by chemical reaction. This process is known as decontamination and is required prior to safe manned entry of process vessels for maintenance work.
