In accordance with REACH Regulation 1907/2006, Annex X, Column 2, a carcinogenicity test may be required if the substance has a widespread dispersive use with frequent long-term human exposure and is classified as mutagenic or there is evidence from repeated dose studies that pre-neoplastic lesions may be induced.

Waiving of the data requirement is justified as the substance is used in closed systems, it is not classified as mutagenic and repeated dose studies have shown no evidence of the induction of pre-neoplastic lesions alhough hyperplasia of the olfactory epithelium was seen as an irritant response
