Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Conclusions:
The melting range of tert.-Butylperoxy- 2-ethylhexanoat was determined with -67.6 to -66.2 °C (205.7 to 207.0 K). These values are the mean of two independent determinations.
Executive summary:

The mean between both determinations gives the following value for the melting point:

Melting point

-67.6 to -66.2 °C (205.7 to 207.0 K)

Standard deviation

0.49 (begin); 0.14 (end)

Estimated accuracy

± 0.7oC

The validity criterion “difference between duplicate determinations” was not met. The test item tert.-Butylperoxy- 2-ethylhexanoat showed a melting range, no melting point. Because of the very low melting point, start of melting was difficult to observe, as the block starts to warm up as soon as it is taken out of the deep freezer. Therefore, the difference between duplicate determinations was too high, regarding the begin of the melting range. For assessment of the test item’s behaviour in the environment, this difference is regarded as not relevant. No observations were made which might cause doubts on the validity of the study out-come. Therefore, the result of the study is considered valid. The melting range of tert.-Butylperoxy- 2-ethylhexanoat was determined with -67.6 to -66.2 °C (205.7 to 207.0 K). These values are the mean of two independent determinations.

Description of key information

Following EU-Method A.1, the melting range of tert.-Butylperoxy- 2-ethylhexanoat was determined to be - 67.3 °C (206 K). The value represents the mean of two independent determinations.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
-67.3 °C
