Description of key information

A study with sediment dwelling organisms is not needed due to the rapid degradation of thionyl dichloride in water.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In accordance with section 2 of Annex XI of Regulation EC 1907/2006, the study does not need to be conducted if testing is technically not possible. As thionyl dichloride is known to decompose rapidly when attendant in water to form hydrochloric acid and sulphur dioxide a study with the substance is not needed.
