Additional information

In short-term aquatic toxicity studies in fish and daphnids, the test material caused no significant toxicity up to nominal concentrations of 100 or 1000 mg/L, respectively. In a 72 -h study, the test material did not produce significant toxicity in freshwater algae up to a highest nominal concentration of 100 mg/L. The measured actual concentration of the test material at the start of testing was 0.012 mg/L. The EC50 was reported as > 0.012 mg/L. The NOEC was reported as 0.012 mg/L. Key values of 100 mg/L for both the NOAE and EC50 were used for the purposes deriving PNEC values. A value of 100 mg/L was the starting value for PNEC calculations.

The equilibrium partitioning method was used to calculate PNEC values for freshwater and marine sediment and soil. The EUSES computer program, Version 2.1.1, was used for these calculations. The molecular weight (699.94), Log Kow (15.28, calculated), and measured water solubility (0.02 mg/L) were supplied to the program. All other values were calculated internally applying default parameters.

A NOEC for activated sludge inhibition of 1000 mg/L was the starting value for the calculation of a PNEC stp.

Conclusion on classification

The test material is classified as Chronic Hazard Category 4 for the aquatic environment according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008: may cause long lasting harmful effects to the aquatic environment.

The material is classified as an R53 according to the EU Directives 67/548/EEC or 1999/45/EC: may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquativ environment.
