As estimated by AOPWIN v1.92 in EPIWIN v4.0, the half-life for indirect photolysis in air for the test substance was 3.99 hours (reaction with hydroxyl radicals).

A not assignable supporting hydrolysis study conducted by the EPA suggests that 2 -(octylthio)ethanol is stable to hydrolysis at pH 5, 7, and 9.

A not assignable supporting phototransformation in water study conducted by the EPA suggests that 2 -(octylthio)ethanol is not expected to undergo direct aqueous photolysis.
