Results and discussion

Toxicokinetic / pharmacokinetic studies

Details on absorption:
The dermal absorption capacity of 1-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl)ethan-1-one is low considering the fact that a value of 0.00300 mg/cm2/event has been predicted (Danish (Q)SAR Database Report). The particle size distribution (granulometry) of 1-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl)ethan-1-one by the sieve analysis method was found to be in the range of 500 micrometer to 1000 micrometer. Thus, chances of absorption of inhalable particles is also low.

Details on distribution in tissues:
The solubility of the chemical 1-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl)ethan-1-one is less in water compared to that in organic solvents. Hence any absorbed chemical is likely to be distributed more in the lipid fraction than in the blood.

Details on excretion:
Data available for similar chemicals like benzophenone indicates that bio-accumulation potential is unlikely. Thus, it can be concluded that any absorbed chemical shall be excreted out of the living system since no bio-accumulation is reported. This fact is further corroborated by the bio-concentration factor (BCF) of 1-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl)ethan-1-one which ranges from 5 to 10. THis is much less than the threshold value of 2000 to suggest bio-accumulation.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Interpretation of results (migrated information): other: No bio-accumulation is expected based upon the physico-chemical propoerties and BCF values of the chemical.
Based upon the physico-chemical parameters and bio-concentration factro (BCF) value of 1-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl)ethan-1-one that ranges from 5 to 10, it can be concluded that the chemical shall not have bio-accumulation potential.
Executive summary:

Based upon the physico-chemical parameters and bio-concentration factro (BCF) value of 1-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl)ethan-1-one that ranges from 5 to 10, it can be concluded that the chemical shall not have bio-accumulation potential.
