- Guideline:
- other: OECD Guideline for determining the dissolution of metal nanomaterials in aquatic media
- Version / remarks:
- Draft version.
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- other: OECD Series on Testing and Assessment No. 318: “Guidance document for the testing of dissolution and dispersion stability of nanomaterials, and the use of the data for further environmental testing and assessment”
- Version / remarks:
- Version: 2021.
Remark: This guidance document is the one that refers to "OECD Draft Guideline for determining the dissolution of metal nanomaterials in aquatic media" as a relevant method for assessing dissolution rate of metal nanomaterials.
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- other: OECD Series on Testing and Assessment No. 317: "Guidance document on aquatic and sediment toxicological testing of nanomaterials"
- Version / remarks:
- Version: 2021.
Remark: The preconisations of this guidance document were followed to prepare the test item suspension on which the dissolution rate was measured.
- Principles of method if other than guideline:
- Annex VII of REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 recommends to assess the dissolution rate of nanomaterials. For this, OECD Series on Testing and Assessment No. 318 “Guidance document for the testing of dissolution and dispersion stability of nanomaterials, and the use of the data for further environmental testing and assessment” refers to "OECD Draft Guideline for determining the dissolution of metal nanomaterials in aquatic media". In the absence of any published test guideline to assess this endpoint of nanomaterials dissolution rate, it was decided to follow this draft guideline, by applying it to a test item suspension prepared as preconised under OECD Series on Testing and Assessment No. 317: "Guidance document on aquatic and sediment toxicological testing of nanomaterials".
- GLP compliance:
- yes
- Type of method:
- other: Static method as described under "OECD Draft Guideline for determining the dissolution of metal nanomaterials in aquatic media" applied to a test item suspension prepared as preconised under OECD Guidance Document No. 317.
