- The boiling point of DIMETHYL 2-METHYL GLUTARATE was determined to be 215.6 °C ± 0.1 °C which is equal to 488.8 K ± 0.1 K.
- Executive summary:
The boiling point / boiling range of DIMETHYL 2-METHYL GLUTARATE was determined according to the method of the EEC Directive 92/69, part A.2, to the OECD Guideline No. 103 and to the GLP.
As in the temperature range investigated, peaks were observed from which boiling of the sample could be deduced, the thermal analysis was repeated in the immediate vicinity of the peak temperature (130°C-250°C). For the actual determination of the boiling point, the temperature rise was adjusted to 10°C/min. Before and after the tests, the weight and the appearance of the sample were determined.
The boiling point was determined to be 215.6°C and 215.5°C. The samples lost 99.5% and 100% of their mass, respectively. The atmospheric pressure during the boiling point measurements was 100 and 100.2 kPa, respectively.
Therefore, the boiling point of DIMETHYL 2-METHYL GLUTARATE was 215.6°C±0.1°C which is equal to 488.8 K ± 0.1 K.
Reference
Preliminary Test:
In the DSC-curve of the preliminary test (heating rate of 20°C/min from 25°C to 400°C), an endothermic heat effect, the boiling, was detected at about 214.2°C. After the experiment, the sample had lost 100% of its mass and there were no residues of the test item.
Main Test:
In order to determine the boiling point more precisely, further DSC-runs were recorded between 130°C and 250°C with a heating rate of 10°C/min. During these runs, the boiling point was determined to be 215.6°C and 215.5°C. The samples lost 99.5% and 100% of their mass, respectively. After the measurements, there were no residues of the test item, indicating evaporation of the test item. The results of the thermal analysis are summarised in the table below:
