- Endpoint:
- oxidising liquids
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- From 23 June 2017 to 28 September 2017
- Reliability:
- 1 (reliable without restriction)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- guideline study
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- UN Manual of Tests and Criteria: Test O.2 (Test for oxidizing liquids)
- Deviations:
- yes
- Remarks:
- The mean pressure rise time obtained for the references mixtures are not the same than the ones in the guidelines. As the classification of the test item is based on the experimental results of the references mixture, this deviation don't affect the study
- GLP compliance:
- yes (incl. QA statement)
- Specific details on test material used for the study:
- SOURCE OF TEST MATERIAL
- Source and lot/batch No.of test material: CY71353002
- Expiration date of the lot/batch: 01/06/2019
- Purity test date: 01/06/2017
- Purity of the test item: 99.8% - Contact with:
- powdered cellulose
- Sample tested:
- reference mixture with 50% perchloric acid + cellulose (1:1 ratio)
- Parameter:
- mean pressure rise time
- Result:
- > 63 - < 117 ms
- Sample tested:
- reference mixture with 40% aqueous sodium chlorate + cellulose (1:1 ratio)
- Parameter:
- mean pressure rise time
- Result:
- > 321 - < 595 ms
- Sample tested:
- reference mixture with 65% nitric acid + cellulose (1:1 ratio)
- Parameter:
- mean pressure rise time
- Result:
- > 1 914 - < 3 554 ms
- Key result
- Sample tested:
- test mixture 1:1
- Parameter:
- mean pressure rise time
- Remarks on result:
- maximum pressure of 2070 kPa not reached
- Interpretation of results:
- GHS criteria not met
- Conclusions:
- The test item /cellulose mixture (1:1) didn't reach 2070 kPa. Based on the GHS and CLP criteria, the test item is not classified as oxidising liquid and thus is not assigned to any packing group.
- Executive summary:
The oxidising properties of the test item were determined according to recognised guideline and under GLP. The mean pressure rise times of the references mixtures are not the same than the ones indicated in the UN O.2 guideline. As the classification of the test item is based on the comparison of the test item mixture mean pressure rise time and the measured mean pressure rise time of the reference mixtures, this deviation isn't considered to affect the quality of the study.
The test item was mixed with dried cellulose. The mean pressure time rising from 690 kPa to 2070 kPa of the test item/cellulose mixture was compared with the mean pressure rise time of three reference mixtures.
The test item /cellulose mixture (1:1) didn't reach 2070 kPa. Based on the GHS and CLP criteria, the test item is not classified as oxidising liquid and thus is not assigned to any packing group.
