Description of key information

Melting/Freezing Point. 41.4 ± 0.5 °C (314.6 ± 0.5 K), by differential scanning calorimetry, designed to be compatible with Method A.1 Melting/Freezing Temperature of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 102 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995

Boiling Point. Boiling with decomposition from 310 °C (583 K), at 99.4 to 102.5 kPa, by differential scanning calorimetry, designed to be compatible with Method A.2 Boiling Temperature of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 103 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995. As the test item decomposed, no value for boiling point could be determined.

Density. 959 kg/m3 at 20.0 ± 1.0 ºC, relative density 0.959, using a gas comparison pycnometer, designed to be compatible with Method A.3 Relative Density of Commission

Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 109 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 02 October.

Surface Tension. The surface tension was not determined according to a procedure designed to be compatible with Method A.5 Surface Tension of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 115 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995 since the water solubility was determined to be less than 1 mg/L. The method guideline states that substances with a water solubility less than 1 mg/L need not be tested for surface tension.

Water Solubility. Less than 6.00 x 10-6 g/L of solution at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C, using an adapted flask method, utilising the slow stir adaptation, according to Letinski et al. slow-stir water solubility measurements of selected alcohols and diesters, Chemosphere 48 (2002) 257-265, designed to be compatible with Method A.6 Water Solubility of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 105 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995.

Partition Coefficient. Greater than 1.74 x 105 at 25.0 ± 0.5 °C, log10 Pow >5.2, carried out by a slow-stirring method, using a procedure designed to be compatible with Method A.23, 24 January 2014, and Method 123 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 23 March 2006.

The vapor pressure of the test item has been determined to be 2.1 x 10-3Pa at 25 °C, using the vapor pressure balance method, designed to be compatible with Method A.4 Vapour Pressure of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 104 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 23 March 2006.

Flash Point = 198 ± 2°C, using a closed cup equilibrium method designed to be compatible with Method A.9 Flash Point of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008.

Auto-flammability: The test item was found to be not a flammable solid using a procedure designed to be compatible with Method N.1 of United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, Sixth revised edition, 2015. The test item melted but failed to ignite during the 2 minutes that the Bunsen flame was applied.

Flammability: The flash point conducted under Reg. (EC) 440/2008 A9 (2008) was 198 ± 2 °C, and the test item was found to not be a flammable solid using a procedure designed to be compatible with Method N.1 of United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, Sixth revised edition, 2015.

Explosiveness & oxidising properties: there are no chemical groups present in the substance which are associated with explosive or oxidising properties.
