- Conclusions:
- On the basis of the experimental studies of the structurally and functionally similar read across chemicals and applying the weight of evidence approach, the hydrolysis half-life value of the test chemical can be expected to be in range 29-146 days at pH 5-9 and 1.8 years at pH 8.
Based on the range half-life value, it is concluded that test substance Benzimidazole (CAS no. 51-17-2) not hydrolysable - Executive summary:
Data available for the structurally and functionally similar read across chemicals has been reviewed to determine the half-life of the test chemical Benzimidazole (CAS no. 51-17-2).The studies are as mentioned below:
The first study was experimental study reviewed from authoritative database (HSDB) in this study the half life of hydrolysis of test chemical was determined to be in range of 29-146 day at range pH 5-9 and temperature 55oC. On the basis of this half life value it is concluded that test chemical shows negligible hydrolysis.
Next experimental study was reviewed from Water Research journal in this study the test chemical showed half life of 1.8 years at pH 8 and at temperature 10 degree C. On the basis of this half life value it can be concluded that test chemical is not hydrolysable.
