Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Ready biodegradability of TKK 30230 (EPICLON HP-4032) in a CO2 evolution (Modified Sturm) test.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
under test conditions no biodegradation observed

Additional information

TKK 30230 (EPICLON HP-4032) was investigated for its ready biodegradability in the "28 -day modified sturm test" according to the OECD N° 301B.

TKK 30230 (EPICLON HP-4032) was found to be practically nonbiodegradable under the present test conditions over the 28 -day exposure period.

Expressed as % biodegradation , the following results were obtained for flask 1 and 2.

-Degradation rate after 7 days: -7.2% / -1.7%

-Degradation rate after 14 days: 5.2% / 35.5% (not taken into consideration in the evaluation of results)

-Degradation rate after 28 days: 0.6% / 16.5%

Likewise, in the abiotic control containing TKK 30230 (EPICLON HP-4032) and poisined test medium, no abiotic degradation was noted at the ned of the 28 -day exposure period.

In the toxicity control, containing both TKK 30230 (EPICLON HP-4032) and the reference substance sodium benzoate, no inhibitory effect on the microorganisms was observed.

In the procedure controls, the reference substance sodium benzoate was readily biodegraded by an average of 98.1% after 14 days of exposure in a 10 -day window within the 28 -day test period; thus confirming suitability of the activated sludge
