Description of key information
Reliable data are available that demonstrate the short-term toxicity of the registered substance to aquatic invertebrates. A 48-hour EL50 of <320 mg/L (<0.031 vol. %) has been determined for the effects of the test substance on mobility of Daphnia magna tested as Water Accommodated Fractions (WAFs). A second test gave a 48-hour EL50 of 560 mg/L (0.054 vol. %). Test results are also available for a closely related substance, Crude Tall Oil (provisional EC number 931-433-1). A 48-hour EL50 of 32 mg/L and a NOELR of 6.25 mg/L were determined in the test using WAFs. It is concluded that the 48-hour EL50 for the substance is likely to lie between loading rates of 32 and 320 mg/L.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
Additional information
Calculation of PNECs for the aquatic compartment will be based on data for the blocks of constituents rather than on data for the whole substance.
