First-aid measures

General advice: Take off immediately all contaminated clothing (including shoes).

Inhalation: Move patient from contaminated area to fresh air. Avoid physical exertion as this may increase the risk of cardiac effects. Keep under medical surveillance.

Skin contact: Wash immediately, abundantly and thoroughly with water. Get medical attention if symptoms occur.

Eye contact: Wash open eyes immediately, abundantly and thoroughly for at least 15 minutes. Consult an ophthalmologist immediately.

Ingestion: Rinse mouth with water. Do NOT induce vomiting. Take victim immediately to hospital.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media :

Suitable extinguishing media: Non-flammable product, Use suitable means to extinguish neighbouring fires.

Unsuitable extinguishing media: Reacts violently with water.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:

Thermal decomposition with formation of corrosive vapour and phosphorus oxides

Forms flammable and explosive hydrogen through corrosion of metals.

Advice for firefighters:

Specific methods: Reacts violently with water.

Special protective actions for fire-fighters: In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Acid resistant clothing.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures: Use personal protective equipment. Ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes.

Environmental precautions: Prevent product from entering drains.

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up:

Methods for cleaning up: Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.

Recovery: Contain spillage, and then collect with non-combustible absorbent material, (e.g. sand, earth, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite).

Elimination: Place in container for disposal according to local / national regulations.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

Technical measures/Precautions: Provide water supplies, ocular fountains and showers near the point of use. Provide a catch-tank in a bunded area.

Safe handling advice: Avoid splashing and emission of vapours when handling. Do not breathe mist. Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area.

Hygiene measures: Prohibit inhalation of vapours. Remove immediately soaked or soiled clothing. Wash separately. Wash immediately any affectedparts of the body. Wash hands after handling. Remove contaminated clothing and protective equipment before entering eating areas.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities: Store in corrosive resistant stainless steel container with a resistant inliner.

Containers which are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage.

Incompatible products: Water, Nitrates, Amines, Metals, strong bases

Packaging material: Recommended: Stainless steel 316 L, lined steel., Polyethylene

To be avoided: Aluminium and copper alloys., Mild steel.

Skin and body protection: Acid resistant clothing, anti acid boots

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity & Chemical stability: Stable under recommended storage conditions., Forms flammable and explosive hydrogen through corrosion of metals.

Possibility of hazardous reactions: Reacts violently with : Bases

Conditions to avoid: No data available.

Incompatible materials to avoid: Water, bases (Exothermic reaction), ferrous metal, Aluminium Contact with metals liberates hydrogen gas.

Hazardous decomposition products: Hydrogen, by reaction with metals, Phosphorous oxides formation at high temperature.

Disposal considerations

Disposal of product: The product should not be allowed to enter drains, water courses or the soil. Contact waste disposal services. Neutralize with an alkaline carbonate.

Disposal of packaging: Must be dumped or incinerated in accordance with local regulations.
