Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Two tests had been performed according to OECD resp EU guidelines with fresh water fish species, Oncorhynchus mykiss and Cyprinus carpio. Measured concentration values were in line with the nominal values. The 96h LC50 values based on measured values range from 10.1 mg/l for O.mykiss to 11.0 for C. carpio. Both tests had been performed to international guidelines and are documented to GLP reqiurements.

The acute toxicity of isononanol, as measured by immobility to the water flea (Daphnia magna) was evaluated in freshwater. Three test data show 48h EC 50 values ranging between 4.7 and 17.1 mg/l, with the most recent study giving an EC value of 9.0 mg/l based on measured test material's concentrations.

Algal toxicity testing had been performed according to international guidelines and documeted according to GLP requirements. The EC50 values, based on measured values range from 11.0 mg/l as determined by the growth rate and 6.4 mg/l based on the biomass. The NOEC value can be determined to be 3.4 mg/l

The EC 10 value for microorganisms had been tested with Pseudomonas putida as surrogate in a 6h exposure test. Based on oxygen consumption in the test vesels, the EC 10 value had been determined to be 114.3 mg/l.

No measured values are available for long term effects. However, given the short half life of isononanol in the environment long term exposure is rather unlikely.
