Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

T1/2air = 2.9 d (sensitizer: OH-radicals, 0.5 x 10E6 molecules/cm³) (AOP Win v 1.92)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Dimethyl phosphonate entering into the atmosphere is expected to be photodegraded rapidly by OH-radicals. Based on the estimated degradation rate constant of 5.5760 x 10E-12 cm3/molecule-sec the calculated half-life of dimethyl phosphonate in air due to indirect photodegradation is T½ = 2.9 days, considering a mean OH-radical concentration of 0.5 x 10E6 molecules/cm3 during a 24 h day (Bayer AG, 2003; Currenta, 2008).
