Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
LD50 (Acute Oral Rat): 3.5 ml/kg (3150 mg/kg)
LC50 (Inhalation 4 hr Rat, Male and Female): 10.3 mg/l (1970 ppm)
RD50 (Inhalation 30 minute Mouse Male): 1.78 mg/l (340 ppm)
LD50 (Acute Dermal Rabbit): 2000 mg/kg
LD50 (Acute Dermal Rabbit) 3024 mg/kg
Key value for chemical safety assessment
Additional information
Acute Oral Toxicity: One study has been cited in secondary source literature for the source chemical n-butyl acrylate. The results are considered to be appropriate for the target chemical 2-methy acrylate. The LD50 is 3150 mg/kg.
Acute Inhalation Toxcity: Two acute inhalation studies have been conducted on the analog source n-butyl acrylate. The acute toxicity test resulted in an overall 4 hr LC50 for males and females of 10.3 mg/l. The LC50 for males was 11.2 mg/l and the LC50 for females was 10 mg/l. These are measured concentrations. An overall 1 hour LC50 for males and females was 41.2 mg/l or 7860 ppm.
An Airway Irritation/Respiratory Depression (RD50) Study of the analog source n-butylacrylate was conducted on male mice. This study resulted in an RD50 of 1.78 mg/l (340 ppm). An LOEL of 052 mg/l (100 ppm) was noted. The NOEL was 0.16 mg/l (30) ppm)
Acute Dermal Toxicity:
Two studies have been cited in secondary source literature for the source chemical n-butyl acrylate. The results are considered to be appropriate for the target chemical 2-methylbutyl acrylate. The LD50 values are 2000 mg/kg and 3024 mg/kg. There is no reason to select one value in favor of the other and the LD50 value is determined to be between 2000 mg/kg and 3024 mg/kg.

Justification for classification or non-classification
The acute inhalation LC50 of 340 ppm results in a GHS and CLP classification of Acute Tox 4. The DSD classification is Xn R20.
Criteria for acute dermal and oral toxicity are not met by the data.
