Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Phototransformation of air:

The atmospheric oxidation half-life of the substance benzyl propionate was estimated using the level III multimedia model. The half life of benzyl propionate was estimated as 2.4 days and hydroxyl radical reaction rate constant as 0.0000000000068cm3/molecule-sec at 25 °C. Hence, it can be inferred that benzyl propionate is persistent in air medium and it is not easily phototransformed in airsince it exceeds the threshold criteria of 2 days for persistence.

Hydrolysis:

The hydrolysis rate constant of the substance benzyl propionate was estimated to be 0.0000000000067963 (6.7963 E-12) cm3/molecule-sec at half life of 18.888h. The estimated half life of the substance indicates that the substance is moderately hydrolysable.

Photo-transformation in water:

No experimental data is available. As this study is not a standard information requirement in REACH and there is no indication from the CSA on the need to investigate further the fate and behaviour of the substance (Annex X requirement), no further testing is considered necessary.

Photo-transformation in soil:

No experimental data is available. As this study is not a standard information requirement in REACH and there is no indication from the CSA on the need to investigate further the fate and behaviour of the substance (Annex X requirement), no further testing is considered necessary.
