Description of key information

The following study was submitted to fulfil the data requirement under the endpoint short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates:
Wetton (2003). ACUTE TOXICITY TO DAPHNIA MAGNA. Testing laboratory: SafePharm Laboratories Ltd, P. O. Box 45, Derby, DE1 2BT, United Kingdom. Report no.: 1194/031. Owner company: Nitto Kasei Co., Ltd. Report date: 2003-10-16.
In an acute toxicity to Daphnia study, the 48 hour EC50 was determined to be 0.0036 mg/l. and the 48 hour NOEC was determined to be 0.0056 mg/l.
After 24 hours exposure no immobilisation was observed at all the test concentrations employed during the definitive test however, immobilisation was observed after 48 hours exposure.

Additional information

The study, Wetton (2003), has been conducted to GLP and in line with a recognised guideline (Conducted to OECD Guideline No 202 (1984) "Daphnia sp., Acute Immobilisation Test and Reproduction Test".) and has been allocated a Klimisch score of 1. The study is considered to be the key study for this endpoint. The 48 hour EC50 was determined to be 0.0036 mg/l. and the 48 hour NOEC was determined to be 0.0056 mg/l.
