Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Accumulation in organisms not to be expected.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

There is no experimental data on the bioaccumulation potential of 2 -(methylamino)ethanol, compound with sulphur dioxide available and therefore the bioaccumulation has been assessed with the substance's dissociation products.

2 -(methylamino)ethanol (CAS 109-83-1) is not expected to accumulate in organisms based on its logPow of -0.91. Additionally performed QSAR calculations resulted in a BCF value of 3.162 L/kg wet weight [Chemservice 2010].

Because of its molecular structure, sodium sulphite (CAS 7757-83-7) is not expected to accumulate in biota either.

Conclusively, 2-(methylamino)ethanol, compound with sulphur oxide is not expected to bioaccumulate.
