REFERENCE SUBSTANCES
- Identity: Solutions of the reference standards were prepared in tetrahydrofuran:
Simazine (purity 99 %): Concentration 154 mg/L

DETERMINATION OF RETENTION TIMES
- Quantity of test substance introduced in the column: An aliquot (0.2615 g) of test material was diluted to 50 mL with tetrahydrofuran). The injection volume was 20 µL.
- Quantity of reference substances: The concentrations of the reference substances are given above. The injection volume was 20 µL.
- Intervals of calibration: The mean retention times of the reference substances varied from 4.294 minutes to 24.213 minutes
REPETITIONS
- Number of determinations: Two injections were performed for each substance and the test material.
EVALUATION
- Calculation of capacity factors k': The capacity factors for the reference standards were calculated using the following equation:
k = (tR - t0) / t0
where:
tR = retention time of the substance (mins)
t0 = dead time (mins)
- Calculation of retention times: NDA
- Determination of the log Koc value: Log10 Koc values of the reference standards were taken from the draft guideline and was determined with reference to the calibration curve for the test sample.

Results and discussion
Adsorption coefficient
- Type:
- log Koc
Results: HPLC method
- Details on results (HPLC method):
- The results for the two components of the test material are shown in Table 1.
The soil adsorption coefficients coefficients for OS 114451A are as follows:
COMPONENT A:
log10 Koc: <1.77
Koc: <58.9
COMPONENT B:
log10 Koc: 2.02
Koc: 105
Under the conditions of the test, one component of the test material showed negligible retention on the HPLC column. The log10 Koc of the component was deduced by direct comparison of the sample retention time with that of the reference standard having the lowest log10 Koc value.
- Mean retention times of reference substances used for calibration:
Simazine: 4.829 mins
Monolinuron: 5.216 mins
Isoproturon: 4.758 mins
Monuron: 4.294 mins
Atrazine: 5.564 mins
Triapenthenol: 6.854 mins
Linuron: 5.852 mins
Endosulphan-alcohol: 6.914 mins
Disulfoton: 10.357 mins
Methiocarb: 5.863 mins
Cyfluthrin: 24.213 mins
- Details of fitted regression line (log k' vs. log Koc): r = 0.915
- Average retention data for test substance: Component A: 2.20 mins; Component B: 5.06 mins
