Description of key information
Pharmacokinetic parameters for Ephedrine have been measured in ten asthmatic patients given a single dose of ephedrine hydrochloride (22 mg) alone and in combination with theophylline and a barbiturate. The plasma half-life time was estimated to be between 5.2 and 6.7 h.

In a pharmacokinetik study with 10 hospital outpatients the plasma half-life time was estimated to be between 5.2 and 6.7 h.
The availability of ephedrine from the tablet form, assuming each tablet contains ephedrine HCI (11 mg), was calculated as 0.88.
The mean clearance calculated was 23.3 - 30 L h-1.
The mean volume of distribution was found to be 203 -230 L.
