Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
melting point/freezing point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
March 8-9th, 2022
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Justification for type of information:
An experimental non-GLP study was conducted according to the protocol developed from by EFFA/EFEO. The substance is adequately identified. Therefore full validation applies.

according to guideline
Guideline:
other: EFFA/EFEO guideline "The Registration for REACH of Natural Complex Substances used as Fragrance Ingredients"
Deviations:
no
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Visual observation of physical state at different temperatures.
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
other: Visual Observation
Melting / freezing pt.:
< -20 °C
Remarks on result:
other: Experimental pressure not specified but supposed to be the standard atmospheric pressure

Although the viscosity increased at the lowest temperature, the consistency remained unchanged. No freezing point could be obtained.

Conclusions:
The freezing point of the test item was stated to be lower than -20°C at 101.3 kPa.
No further testing required.
Executive summary:

The melting point of the test substance was investigated according to the methodology proposed by the EFFA/EFEO guideline "The Registration for REACH of Natural Complex Substances used as Fragrance Ingredients”.

By visual observation it was found that the test substance is a mobile liquid at 20°C and a mobile liquid after 2 days at -20°C.

Therefore, it was concluded that the freezing point of the test item islower than -20°C at 101.3 kPa

Description of key information

The freezing point of the test item was stated to be lower than -20°C at 101.3 kPa.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A fully reliable experimental study is available, based on observation at given temperatures (+5°C and -20°C), as recommended for NCS: the substance remained liquid at the lowest temperature tested.

Results expressed as limit values cannot be retained as key data for purpose of CSA.
