Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Sodium 4-[(C16-18-(even numbered)-alkylamino)carbonyl]benzoate is considered to be potentially persistent or very persistent. It is expected to be not readily biodegradable based on data read across from an appropriate structural analogue. Sodium 4-[(C16-18-(even numbered)-alkylamino)carbonyl]benzoate is considered to have a low potential for bioaccumulation, with an experimentally determined solubility in octanol of 4.1 x 10-4 g/L, and is therefore not bioaccumulative or very bioaccumulative. An appropriate read across substance showed no acute toxicity to aquatic organisms, is not carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction, showed no chronic toxicity or repeat dose specific target organ toxicity would be expected. These results have been read across to sodium 4-[(C16-18-(even numbered)-alkylamino)carbonyl] benzoate, and this substance is therefore considered not to meet the criteria for toxic. As such, sodium 4-[(C16-18-(even numbered)-alkylamino)carbonyl]benzoate is considered not to meet the criteria for PBT/vPvB.

Likely routes of exposure:

Assessments of likely routes of exposure are not required for substances which are considered to be not PBT/vPvB.
