- Executive summary:
The acute toxicity of the test material to fish was investigated in accordance with the standardised guideline OECD 203, under GLP conditions.
Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) were exposed to the test material for 96 hours at the nominal concentrations of 10, 18, 32, 58 and 100 mg/L. Mortalities were recorded after 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours exposure. The fish were examined daily.
The test material concentrations were verified analytically using UV-Spectroscopy, the measured concentrations at 0 hours were 95 – 103 % of the nominal concentrations and measured concentrations at 96 hours were 94 – 101 % of the nominal concentrations.
No mortalities occurred during the study and no symptoms (swimming behaviour, loss of equilibrium, respiratory function, exophthalmos or pigmentation) were observed in any group at any time during the study.
Under the conditions of this study the 96 hour EC50 was >100 mg/L, the 96 hour NOEC and LC0 were 100 mg/L and the 96 hour LC100 was >100 mg/L. The 24, 48 and 72 hour EC50 values were all >100 mg/L.
