Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Melting point is 50.1°C

No boiling point was observed over the applied temperature range and therefore the boiling point will be reported as >300 °C.

Relative density of the test substance is 0.95 g/cm3 at 20 °C.

Granolometry end-point has been waived as the substance is marketed in a non granulometric form.

Experimental study showed that it is not technically posible to determine the vapour pressure due to the high boiling point of Test Item.

Several test methods were applied but none of them were found to be appropriate to the testing of the test item (i.e. registered substance). Both flask method and solubility ratio method was applied. Due to methodological shortcomings no partition coefficient value could be reported.

Several methods were applied to test the water solubility of the substance. However due to methodological difficulties it was not possible to experimentally determine a reliable water solubility value.  Thus, the reported results in the attached report are not considered to be representative of the actual water solubility of the specified components due to the inability to completely filter the dispersed test solution. It is expected that the target substance is highly insoluble.

Surface tension of the test item, Shea Butter Cetyl Esters, is 71.9 mN/m at 25 oC.

The substance is not meeting the criteria for classification as flammable.

Auto flammability end-point is waived because the substance has a melting point <160 C.

The substance is not meeting the CLP criteria for classification as flammable solid.

The substance does not meet the criteria for classification as explosive.

The substance is not considered to have oxidising properties.
