Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
- Following inhalation: Ensure supply of fresh air.
- Following skin contact: Immediately and thoroughly, wash off with soap and water.
- Following eye contact: Immediately rinse with water for 15 minutes or more. Hold eyelids apart while flushing in order to rinse the entire surface of the eye. Seek medical attention.
- Following ingestion: Rinse out mouth and immediately seek medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
- Suitable extinguishing media: foam, carbon dioxide, dry powder, water spray.
- Unsuitable extinguishing media: not applicable
- Special hazards arising from the substance: In the event of fire the following can be released: carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides (NOx)
- Advice for fire fighter: As in any fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus pressure-demand, (MSHA/NIOSH approved or equivalent) and full protective gear.
Accidental release measures
- Personal precautions: Use personal protective equipment.
- Environmental precautions: Do not allow to enter drains or waterways. Do not discharge into the subsoil/soil.
- Methods and material for containment and cleaning up: Take up with absorbent material (e.g. sand, kieselguhr, universal binder).
Handling and storage
- Precautions for safe handling: No special measures necessary if stored and handled as prescribed.
- Conditions for safe storage: Use plastic containers.
