primary dermal irritation index (PDII)
Basis:
mean
Time point:
24/48/72 h
Score:
0
Reversibility:
other: not applicable
Remarks on result:
no indication of irritation
Irritant / corrosive response data:
1,4-bis(p-tolylamino)anthraquinone showed no irritation, when applied to intact rabbit skin.

No destructions or irreversible alterations of the treated skin were observed. Thus it was concluded that no corrosion effect had occured on the skin.
Other effects:
In the area of application a moderate to slight greyish discoloration of the skin was observed. This effect was recorded in the rabbits during the entire observation period.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
other: not irritating
Remarks:
based on CLP criteria
Conclusions:
Under the conditions of this experiment the test material caused no irritation when applied to intact rabbit skin.
Executive summary:

Under the conditions of this experiment the test material was observe to cause no irritation when applied to intact rabbit skin. In the area of application a moderate to slight greyish discoloration of the skin was observed. This effect was recorded in the rabbits during the entire observa tion period. No corrosion effect had occured on the skin. The calculated Mean irritation index for intact skin was observed to be 0. Thus on the basis of the study and by comparing CLP criteria for classification of the substance, the test material is not considered to be a skin irritant.
