First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air. Symptomatic treatment.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with running water for at least 15 minutes and seek
medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash exposed area with plenty
of soap solution or water for 15 minutes.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Dry chemical, carbon dioxide, foam or water may be used.

Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon and
nitrogen.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: A self-contained breathing apparatus should be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear suitable protective clothing (see 2.3.1).

Contain and absorb substance using suitably absorbent and
inert material. Transfer to suitable labelled containers and
dispose of by incineration in accordance with local
regulations. Do not allow spilled material to enter water
supplies. Wash spill site with water.

Handling and storage

Handling: 'Coagulant 122 (solid)' is manufactured as an 80% solids
material and is never marketed in the solid form. Ensure
adequate ventilation. Rubber gloves and splash proof
chemical goggles should be worn. If ventilation is
inadequate, or significant exposure is likely, then a
respirator (type P2S) with dust/mist filter should be worn.

Storage: Store in solution in tightly closed 200 litre containers.
Keep away from strong oxidising agents.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: 200 litre stainless steel drums.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for recycling is not possible.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None known.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method at a suitable facility using temperatures
of 1000 deg C. Waste gas treatment to remove oxides of
nitrogen should be fitted. (A661)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recomended.
