From 275°C upwards the weight of the sample decreased significantly. At 344°C the sample weight had decreased by 25%. After the experiment, a colourless residue remained in the sample container (original colour: colourless to light yellow). The change of the colour indicated reaction and/or decomposition of the substance.

Conclusions:
Decomposition of 4,4'-(1-phenylethane-1,1-diyl)bis(heptyloxybenzene) was observed during DSC experiments at temperatures of > 350°C (> 623K). Boiling of the substance was not observed below the temperature at which reaction and/or decomposition started. Based on this, the substance has no boiling temperature.
