Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

not biodegradable
Type of water:
freshwater

Additional information

The ready biodegradability of CAS# 297730-93-9 was studied in a 28-day closed bottle test according to OECD method 301D.  Secondary effluent of a domestic sewage treatment plant was used as a source of inoculum. Additional BOD bottles were extracted with chloroform for gas chromatographic analysis (GC) of CAS# 297730-93-9 on Days 0 and 28 only (one inoculum blank on day 0, two each of CAS# 297730-93-9 and abiotic controls on Days 0 and 28). The 28-day biodegradation according to oxygen depletion (100% * BOD/ThOD) was 1%. The 28-day depletion of CAS# 297730-93-9 was 0-1% by GC.

This study satisfies the guideline requirements for test method OECD301D, closed bottle ready biodegradability test, adding additional information on degradation of parent.  It was compliant with GHS criteria.  It is deemed reliable with restrictions.

The atmospheric degradation product perfluorobutyric acid is not expected to be biodegradable.  Ready biodegradation was not examined.
