A preliminary test was performed to determine self ignition behaviour of ruthenium (IV) oxide according to VDI guideline 2263. The peak of approximately 60°C observed at approx 110°C was attributed to evaporation of water. No self-ignition was observed in the temperature range 25 - 420 °C.

Description of key information
A preliminary test was performed to determine self ignition behaviour of ruthenium (IV) oxide according to VDI guideline 2263. No self-ignition was observed in the temperature range 25 - 420 °C.
In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII, the self-ignition temperature study does not need to be conducted as the substance is a solid and preliminary results exclude self heating of the substance up to 400°C.Key value for chemical safety assessment
