First-aid measures

After inhalation:
Remove to fresh air and keep at rest.
If breathing is difficult, immediately call medical assistance. Give oxygen or artificial respiration.

After skin contact:
IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of soap and water for 15 minutes.
Take off contaminated clothing and wash it before reuse.
If skin irritation occurs: Get medical advice/attention.

After eyes contact:
IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.
If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice/attention.

After ingestion:
Call medical assistance.
Never induce vomiting an unconscious person to avoid any respiratory tracts obstruction. In this case, place the person in recovery position and keep warm until the arrival of the medical assistance.
If person is conscious, rinse out mouth with water.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media:
Suitable extinguishing media: Water spray, carbon dioxide, dry chemical powder or polymer foam.
Unsuitable extinguishing media: Water jet

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:
Substance is not flammable. However, in a fire, it can decompose, giving off toxic fumes of carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2) nitrogen oxides (NOx) and hydrobromic acid (HBr).

Advice for firefighters / responders:
Firefighting responders should equip themselves with a complete body and heat resistant protective equipment and self contained breathing apparatus (EN 137 / EN 14593 / EN 14594).
Keep run-off water out of sewers and water sources.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:
Ventilate contaminated area. Avoid contact with the released substance. Do not breathe dust.
Remove from spill site any person whose presence is not necessary. Keep upwind.
The others should wear protective cloth, dust mask, chemical safety goggles and rubber gloves.

Environmental precautions:
Do not flush spill area with plenty of water before picking-up, to avoid contamination of the watercourses and low areas.

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up:
Collect spilled material in tightly closed and well-labelled container. This material should be retreated or disposed.
Wash spill site with plenty of water after material pickup is complete.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:
Handle and use only in well-ventilated areas.
Safety shower and eyewash fountain should be available.
Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes. Avoid breathing dust. Avoid repeated or prolonged exposure.
Wash thoroughly after handling this substance. Keep apart working clothes.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:
Technical measures: The ground of the storage area must be waterproof and form retention basin.
Storage conditions: Keep containers tightly closed. Store in a cool, dry and well-ventilated area.

Incompatible materials: Keep away from oxidising agents.

Exposure controls / personal protection

1. Technical protection measures:
The use of local exhaust is recommended to avoid dust emissions.

2. Hand protection:
In case of limited contact : gloves with minimum protection index of 2 (permeation time > 30 min according to EN 374-3): PVC, Fluorinated material (Teflon ®, Viton ®)
In case of direct prolonged exposure: gloves with minimum protection index of 4 (permeation time > 120 min according to EN 374-3): PVC, Fluorinated material (Teflon ®, Viton ®)

3. Body protection / Skin protection:
Suitable protective body clothing (EN 13982-1 in case of dust)

4. Eye protection:
Chemical safety goggles with side shields (EN 166)

5. Respiratory protection:
Dust / particles protective mask (EN 143/A1 - EN 149) when risk of inhalation.
Self-contained breathing apparatus (EN 137 / EN 14593 / EN 14594) in case of important risk or prolonged exposure, for example in case of fire fighting.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity: No data available.

Chemical Stability: The substance is stable at room temperature and under normal storage and handling conditions

Possibility of hazardous reactions: No dangerous reaction has been identified.

Conditions to avoid: No data available.

Incompatible materials: Strong oxidizing agents.

Hazardous decomposition products: toxic fumes of carbon oxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and hydrobromic acid gas (HBr). Decomposition in water: not concerned.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods:
Product residues: Do not reject in natural environment. Dissolve or mix with a combustible solvent and burn in an adequate incinerator (for halogenated products).
Contaminated packaging: Contaminated packaging have to be disposed in a site approved for chemical and hazardous waste or burned in a specialised burning centre.
