Description of key information
Appearance:
On the basis of physical observations, it is concluded that pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid is physically occur in white needle form.
Melting point:
It is concluded that the decomposition temperature of pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid is 225 °C. At this temperature pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid starts decomposing. From the other reliable sources it concluded that pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid having decomposition temperature in range of 222 to 225 Deg C.
Boiling Point:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a solid which decomposes before boiling (It is concluded that the decomposition temperature of pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid is 225 °C. At this temperature pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid starts decomposing.)
Density:
Density of pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid is observed to be 1.4317g/cm3 at 25 Deg C.
Particle size distribution:
The particle size distribution of Pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid was determined by granulometric analysis with rotap sieve shaker. The particle size distribution was determined to be in the range of 150 micron to 53 micron.
Vapour pressure:
The estimated vapour pressure of Pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid at 25 deg C was 0.0114 Pa.
Partition coefficient
Based on the available data from authoritative databases, the partition coefficient (log Pow) value of the substancePyrazine-2 -carboxylic acidwas estimated to be -0.18. Based on the estimated value, the chemicalPyrazine-2 -carboxylic acidcan be considered to be hydrophilic in nature.

Auto flammability:
Pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27 °C pressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that Pyrazine-2 -carboxylic acid is not auto-flammable.
Flammability:
Pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid does not indicate any ignition when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of approximately 950°C is brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that Pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid is not flammable at high temperature. However since such high temperatures are not found under normal circumstances of transportation and use, thus Pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid was considered non-flammable for chemical safety assessment. Flash point of pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid is predicted to be 142.1 Deg C. So GHS criteria cannot be fulfilled by pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid.
