Additional information
FAT 40870/A TE is a red powder, solid at 20°C.
The test item partially melted from approximately 68.1 ± 0.5 °C (341.3 ± 0.5 K), but decomposed without complete phase transition as heating continued.
The test item has been determined to decompose prior to melting " therefore under the terms stated Under COLUMN 2 "SPECIFIC RULES FOR ADAPTATION FROM COLUMN 1" in the REGULATION (EC) No 1907/2006 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 18 December 2006, The study does not need to be conducted "for solids which decompose before boiling.
The relative density of the test item has been determined to be 1.61 (density 1.61+03 kg/m3) at 20.0 ± 1.0 °C.
In the particle size distribution study, the proportion of test item having an inhalable < 100 μm was found to be 98.6 %, the proportion of test item having a thoracic particle size < 10 μm was 2.6 % and the proportion of test item having a respirable particle size < 5.5 μm was 1.1 %.
The vapour pressure of the test item has been calculated to be less 1.1E-26Pa at 25 °C.
The Partition Coefficient (n-octanol/water) was determied to be < 7.96E-03 at 23.0 ± 1.0 °C and the log10 Pow less than -2.10, using the shake-flask method.
The water solubility has been determined to be in the range of 21.9 to 24.0% w/w of solution at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C approximately 280 to 316 g/L of solution at 20.0 +/- 0.5 °c, using a modified flask method.
The surface tension study was waives in accordance with Column 2 adaptation statement of REACH Annex VII, this study does not need to be conducted if surface activity is not expected and no surface-active properties would be predicted for this compound. (Surface activity is not a desired property of the material).
The flash point study was waived in accordance with Section 2 of REACH Annex XI, the flash point study does not need to be conducted based on the physical state of the substance. According to ECHA guidance, flash point is only relevant to substances that are liquid at room temperature.
The test item showed no signs of self-ignition or self heating over the duration of the test therefore no self-ignition temperature can be determined.
FAT 40870/A TE has neither flammable properties, explosives properties and oxidising properties.
