Endpoint:
hydrolysis
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is readily biodegradable
Justification for type of information:
Malonic acid is present in biological systems and as with other carboxylic acids, there is no evidence that these hydrolyse. Hydrolysis typically adds more oxygen to organic molecules and carboxylic acids are typically formed during hydrolysis and are the most water-stable form of organic substances. The substance is conisdered readily biodegradable. Testing is not considered necessary and a waiver is made.
