Description of key information

In a well conducted skin irritation study in rabbits, no erythema was noted in any of the test animals at the 4 and 48 hour observation periods. The mean primary skin irritation score (FHSA) is 0.00 Therefore the test substance is not considered to be irritating to skin.
In a well conducted eye irritation study in rabbits the test substance is considered to be minimally irritating to the rabbit eyes without a wash out and non-irritating with a wash out 30 seconds after instillation. Overall the test substance would not be classified as irritating to eyes.

Additional information

In a well conducted skin irritation study in rabbits, no erythema was noted in any of the test animals at the 4 and 48 hour observation periods. The mean primary skin irritation score (FHSA) is 0.00 Therefore the test substance is not considered to be irritating to skin.

In a well conducted eye irritation study in rabbits the test substance is considered to be minimally irritating (slightly irritating) to the rabbit eyes without a wash out and non-irritating with a wash out 30 seconds after instillation. This was based on effects in only one animal which had irritant effects at 24 hours, which were fully reversible by 72 hours. Overall the test substance would not be classified as irritating to eyes.

Justification for selection of skin irritation / corrosion endpoint:
Based on a well conducted skin irritation study in rabbits.

Justification for selection of eye irritation endpoint:
Based on a well conducted eye irritation study in rabbits.

Effects on eye irritation: slightly irritating

Justification for classification or non-classification

On the basis of both the eye irritation and skin irritation/corrosion study the test substance would not be classified as corrosive or irritating to either skin or eyes under CLP regulation (1272/2008) and the Dangerous Substance Directive (67/548/EEC).
