Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In accordance with section 2 of REACH Annex VII, the study (required in section 7.7) does not need to be conducted as the substance is hydrolytically
not stable and showed structural changes during the experiment

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A water solubility test according to an approriate guideline was carried out. As the substance is hydrolytically unstable and turbidity was observed no measured water solubility value could be determined.

Due to the hydrolytic instability of the substance, the water solubility of the hydrolysis product are also relevant. A solubility of 1,000,000 mg/l for both the silanol and the amino alcohol hydrolysis product has been predicted using an appropriate QSAR method. The silanol hydrolysis product can undergo condensation reactions of the type 2Si-OH→ Si-O-Si + H2O; this limits the actual solubility in water. A highly cross-linked network can be formed.
