Description of key information

The test item was not considered as highly flammable under the experimental conditions used.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The test to estimate the flammability property of MEXORYL SBF was conducted in compliance with the EU methods A.10.

Two preliminary tests were performed and gave the following results : The test item melted and boiled in contact with the gas burner flame. Melting of the test item produced a brown liquid that turned amber with time. Neither ignition nor propagation was observed. Therefore it was considered that the test substance is not highly flammable.

This result was considered as reliable without restrictions becauseit was in compliance with GLP and international guidelines.

Note : In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, studies for flammability on contact with water and for pyrophoric properties are deemed unnecessary based on the chemical structure of the major components that do not fall into critical categories described in ECHA guidance, and based on the experience in handling and use of the substance. Therefore, the test A12 (Flammability on contact with water) and the test A13 (Pyrophoric properties of solids and liquids) were not conducted.
