Description of key information

There are no microbial toxicity studies available for the SDIBP. The member of the hydrotrope support read-across of sodium cumene sulphonate (CAS No 28348-53 -0) data to SDIBP, in accordance to Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5. The guideline study conducted in 2009 for related substance reported that the 3-hr EC10 (and NOEC) was 1000 mg/L active substance, which was the only concentration tested.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:

Additional information

There are no microbial toxicity studies available for the SDIBP. The guideline study for sodium cumene sulphonate (CAS No 28348-53-0) was used as read-across to SDIBP. The study followed OECD Guideline 209 - Activated Sludge, Respiration Inhibition Test and was conducted under GLP requirements (Fiebig, 2009). The study was a static, limit test of activated sludge from a domestic source with no analytical measurement of the test substance concentration. No inhibition was observed based on respiration rate. The 3-hour EC10 (and NOEC) was 1000 mg/L active substance (nominal), which was the only concentration tested.
