Description of key information
BCF studies with fish have been conducted on the mixed isomers of diisopropylbenzene with measurements of the BCF values for the
individual isomers that make up the mixture. The key study is an OECD 305 guideline study with definitive BCF values for the individual isomers as well as the mixture. In the key study the 1,3-DIPB isomer had reported kinetic lipid normalized BCF values of 1628.2 L/Kg and 1708.9 L/Kg at two exposure concentrations of 10 and 100 ug/L respectively.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- BCF (aquatic species):
- 1 708.9 L/kg ww
Additional information
A supporting BCF study with fish was conducted with the mixed isomers (meta and para) of diisopropylbenzene at concentrations of 2 and 20 ug/L. BCF values were measured for each isomer independently. The BCF values for m-DIPB ranged from 503 -3210. The BCF values for p-DIPB were similar with a range of 512 -2960. However, this report was lacking detail sufficent for a thourough evalaution.
