Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Validity criteria fulfilled:
- yes
- Conclusions:
- The maximum concentration causing no mortality within the test period after 96 h (LC0 was 100 mg/l. The minimum concentration causing 100 per cent mortality after 96 h (LC100) was >100 mg/l. The No Observed Effect Concentration after 96 h (NOEC) was 100 mg/l. According to binomial analysis the calculated LC(50) of C3-Phosphoniumbrornid after 96 h was > 100 mg/l with 99.9 % confidence.
- Executive summary:
A static test procedure was used to assess the acute toxicity of the test substance C3-Phasphoniurnbromid to Rainbow Trout, oncorhynchus mykiss. The fish were exposed for 96 hours to aqueous solutions of the test substance at nominal test concentrations of 100.0, 66.7, 44.4, 29.6, and 19.8 mg/l. An additional group of fish was exposed to dilution water and served as a control. Observations regarding mortality and any visible abnormalities were made after 2, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours. Temperature, pH, and oxygen concentration were measured in the test solutions at the beginning of the study and at 24-hour intervals thereafter throughout the study. There was no mortality in the control. The maximum concentration causing no mortality within the test period after 96 h (LC0 was 100 mg/l. The minimum concentration causing 100 per cent mortality after 96 h (LC100) was >l00 mg/l. The No Observed Effect Concentration after 96 h (NOEC) was 100 mg/l. According to binomial analysis the calculated LC(50) of C3-Phosphoniumbrornid after 96 h was > 100 mg/l with 99.9 % confidence.
