Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
auto-ignition temperature (liquids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
22 Oct 2019
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
DIN 51794 (Testing of mineral oil hydrocarbons - Determination of ignition temperature)
Auto-ignition temperature:
390 °C
Atm. press.:
1 Bar

The specified value for the ignition temperature (result of the determination) is the lowest of all specified values, rounded down to a whole multiple of 5 ° C (according to the regulation).

The measurement uncertainty of the temperature was ± 1 K. in the individual experiments.

It should be noted that the ignition temperature is a pressure and volume-dependent characteristic. As the pressure increases and the volume increases, the ignition temperature drops.

Annotation: Due to the high-viscosity consistency, the sample was preheated to 50 ° C in the oven for better pipetting.

Description of key information

The auto-ignition temperature of the test item was determined to be 390 °C at 1 bar according to DIN 51794.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Autoflammability / Self-ignition temperature at 101 325 Pa:
390 °C
