Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Cloquintocet acid did not demonstrate skin sensitisation potential in the local lymph node assay (LLNA). There is no evidence from experience of use that the substance has the potential to cause skin sensitisation in exposed workers.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

A local lymph node assay (LLNA) was conducted to evaluate the skin sensitisation potential of cloquintocet acid in compliance with OECD test guideline 429 (Verma, 2013c). Stimulation indices for the 10%, 25% and 50% (w/v) treated groups were 0.91, 0.93 and 0.51, respectively. The SI obtained at all tested concentrations showed a less than three-fold increase over the control value; therefore, cloquintocet acid did not demonstrate dermal sensitisation potential under the conditions of the study.

There is no evidence from experience of use that cloquintocet acid has the potential to cause skin sensitisation in exposed workers.

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available
Additional information:

No animal data are available. There is no indication from the experience of use that the substance causes respiratory sensitisation in exposed workers.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on available information, cloquintocet acid does not meet the criteria for classification as a skin or respiratory sensitiser according to the CLP Regulation 1272/2008.
